Our current work is on a 1979 modern house located in the desirable Alberta Arts district. The house was in somewhat original condition although there was a history of failed update "experiments" by previous owners.
While a new coat of paint livened up the tired cedar siding, we added a punch of color with corrugated metal to the unique urban courtyard. A new frosted glass garage door completed the contemporary look.
We tried to stay true to the original design intent from 1979 while giving the bathrooms and kitchen a major redesign to suite modern living. The original owners had had a very efficient design in mind when the property was constructed. Each room is suited for two occupants. This approach gave Allegory a challenging task to create rooms the felt large enough while improving the functionality of each space.
The original kitchen was compromised due to sharing space with a dedicated dining room. We designed an eat-in professional kitchen to give the new space a gathering focal point. This new space is now well suited for gourmet meals for two or dinner parties.
We are proud to have redesigned and refurbished this truly one of a kind property.
